Online and phone help

I’m very excited to offer my services via the internet and over the phone. Both email and phone counseling/coaching offer great freedom, accessibility and convenience along with excellent value. Click here for a list of the advantages and disadvantages of working with me in this way.

1-on-1

If you live in the Washington DC metro area, you may want to do our work in-person. Please be aware that 1-on-1 hours are limited in my schedule.

New groups are forming now.

Topics include:

• Strong Women/Wise Choices—Women supporting women in recognizing and strengthening the choices they make in their relationships, career, spirituality and family dynamics.
• Finding the Function in Dysfunction—“Normal” is pretty rare these days, but we still seem to measure our family experiences by a scale that just doesn’t fit. What can you do? Make the most of your life, no matter what your background. There is more ‘gold’ in your past and present than you might imagine. Join this group to find it!
• General Group Therapy—Working in a group environment offers rich opportunity for growth and learning. This small group supports a variety of issues.

In-person groups will be limited to 6-8 participants and will be held in my Washington DC office.

Phone groups will have space for up to 15 participants.
If you are not in the DC area and do not have a long-distance calling plan, you might consider using a 10-10 number to save on long-distance calls. Click here for a good 'dial around service' information resource. While I can't endorse or be responsible for any third party phone vendor, I've had pretty good luck with them myself.

Every potential group member must be 'pre-screened' through an introductory consultation.

Free Services

In addition to new free resources every month, I offer live teleclasses, e-courses and guest passes to local speaking events at no cost. Check the Latest News box on my homepage for updates. Low Cost Services

I maintain 3 low-cost client hours per week. These sessions are billed on a sliding scale based on income and need. They are currently filled through the end of the year, but if you need help and cannot afford it, I can give you some good referrals or work out a payment plan. Email me for details.

Emergencies
I cannot provide emergency services. If you need emergency help, contact your nearest hospital emergency room.

Suicide
If you feel like you might harm yourself, do one or all of the following right now:

• Call 1-800-SUICIDE in the U.S. (1-800-784-2433)
• Visit The Samaritans at www.samaritans.org. They offer compassionate, anonymous help online
• Teenagers, call Covenant House NineLine, 1-800-999-9999
• Find your local crisis hotline in the front of your phone book
• Go to your nearest emergency room for assistance
• Talk to someone who you can trust to just listen

Insurance
I do not take insurance. However, if your Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Human Resources department or health insurance benefits cover 'out of network provider' services, you may qualify for reimbursement.

Also, check with your accountant about taking counseling, coaching or professional development services as a tax deduction.

I will be happy to provide appropriate receipts for these purposes.

If you are dealing with addiction, I will not see you while you are actively using. I'd be honored to suppliment your 12-step or other recovery program once you have been clean at least 3 months before we start working together.

If you have a history of pedophilia, child endangerment, violent crime or elder abuse, God bless you for seeking help. Please contact your local mental health association for referrals.
